FINE AND DELICATE MAHOGANY AND FIGURED MAPLE SERPENTINE TWO-DRAWER STAND.Early 20th century, Boston or Massachusetts North Shore. This well executed example of Portsmouth or North Shore Federal stand with thin serpentine top and ogival corners above conforming frieze, fitted with bank of two drawers, each with incised edge and figured birch panels. Sides similarly inlaid. The thin tapered reeded cylindrical legs with ring-turned cuffs raised on elongated swelled feet. Each leg surmounted by engaged three quarter columns. SIZE: 27″ h x 18-1/2″ w x 15″ d. CONDITION: With old and original surface. Small veneer loss on divider between drawers. Molded brass handles original. In our opinion this is a handmade table from old timber designed from the finest examples of Boston and North Shore cabinet shops such as those of John and Thomas Seymour or Judkins and Senter of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. 51215-1 (2,000-3,000) – Lot 2308
