LARGE & RARE GEORG JENSEN STERLING SILVER “EXTRA SERVICE TRAY”.Mid 20th century, Denmark. Large Sterling silver tray bearing the mark of Georg Jensen Silversmith, Johan Rohde, designer, design #251A. An oval tray having raised edge with notched decoration, having handles on both ends fitted with carved ivory grips joined to tray by tapering reeded elongated cones and scrolling elements. Johan Rohde was a Danish painter, lithographer and designer and the principal founder of “Den Frie Udstilling” establishing in 1891 to allow artists to exhibit works that did not fit into the academy’s normal selection criteria. 113oz Troy.
