*WESTLEY RICHARDS HAND DETACHABLE EJECTOR GAME GUN WITH CASE.SN G4398. (ca 1909) Cal. 12 ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 28″ Dovetailed bbls are fitted with matted, concave game rib, and are engraved “Westley Richards & Co” and “London” on tops. Bbl flats are stamped “MOD.” and “IMP. CYL”. Bottoms of bbls are stamped with SNs, proofs, steel type, and 1-1/4 oz Birmingham nitro proofs. Case hardened action features non-automatic safety, Westley Richards patented third fastener with sliding bolt engaging dolls head extension, patented “Onetrigger” with selector on right side, and hand detachable locks (patent use no. “2102”) with integral firing pins held in place by a removable blued floorplate. Action has nicely filed beads around fences, and is engraved with very well cut large open scroll. “Westley Richards & Co” is on each side of action, and “WESTLEY RICHARDS” “PATENT ONETRIGGER” is in front of top lever pivot. Blued top lever, floorplate, and trigger guard have matching scroll engraving. SN is at grip. Lightly streaked and figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-1/8″ over “NOSHOC” recoil pad, and features drop points, fancy border checkering with fleur-di-lis intrusions, and a silver oval on toe line lightly engraved “PB”. Matching splinter ejector forend has inset horn tip, and Deeley release. Bore diameter: left -.740, right -.740. Bore restrictions: left -.007 (IC), right -.013 (Lt mod). Wall thickness: left -.027, right -.025. Drop at heel: 2-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-9/16″. Weight: 7 lbs 2 oz. LOP: 14-1/8″. Old leather case with brass corners, has central rectangular brass plaque engraved “B”. Case is lined in bright green cloth, and has reproduction Wesley Richards label in lid. Case contains pull-through field cleaning kit in black morocco wallet, horn handled chamber brush by Hawksley, 2-pc brass and ebony cleaning rod, square oil bottle, and a bench cloth. Bbls retain nearly all of a fine satin re-black over some light marks and scratches, engraving clear. Action retains 60 – 70% orig case hardening color. Top lever, floorplate, and trigger guard have been re-blued, and retain approx 90% of that blue. Stocks retain most of a glossy refinish, with some light marks and scratches, sharp edges slightly rounded, checkering re-cut, and lightly worn. Bores are shiny over some light pitting. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are strong and in time. Trigger works. Case leather is fine with marks and rubs. New straps and handle are very fine.
