FINE LOT OF FOUR NATIVE NORTH AMERICAN ITEMS.1) Decorated & painted ceremonial basketry hat having probably mink fur edge. The cone shaped hat having a supporting ring to interior and painted black with a 4″ band in red & black with Northwest Coast motif. This band adorned with 17 pieces of mother-of-pearl. The top adorned with what appears to be an ermine pelt. 2) Beaded child’s vest having eight colorful green, red, blue, and white flags at angles to the center flanked by two stylized trees in colors of blue, pink, green, red, black, & orange along with two 4-petal flowers. The interior with a red designed cloth. The back in purple cloth. The front of vest in tanned hide. 3) 12″ carved red catlinite pipe in the form of an axe. Engraved design of flower heads and rosettes. 4) Rare catlinite & wood cane. Interesting cane having a wood shaft adorned with two 1″ carved pieces of red catlinite. The top crook section with a carved animal head and the bottom 7″ section ending in a hoof. SIZE: 1) 7-1/2″ h x 16″ dia. 2) 19″ h x 15-1/2″ w. 3) 12″ l. 4) 34-1/2″ l. CONDITION: 1) Edge loss to fur, otherwise very good. 2) Beadwork is very good, hide & cloth have some staining, holes & imperfections but generally good. 3) Very good. 4) Some scarring & scratching to catlinite, wood with nice patina. 51372-1 (1,500-2,000) – Lot 2277
