J. WOODWARD SIDELOCK GAME GUN.

SN 4356. Cal. 12 ga. 29″ Whitworth bbls, 2-3/4″ chambers, choked CYL/IMP CYL. Full length laminated top rib with steel front bead, marked with maker name and address and gold “1” near breech. Dbl triggers, extractor, auto safety. Capped full pistol grip buttstock checkered in 2-pt pattern with teardrop behind locks, silver oval in stock engraved “DeWitt”. 13-7/8″ LOP over modern red pad with two black spacers. Splinter forearm is near fully checkered in 2-pt pattern with Curtis push button release. Receiver is beautifully scroll engraved with sculpted fences and marked in gold “1” on top lever and “SAFE” in front of safety. Gold lined cocking indicators. Trigger guard is nicely scroll engraved with SN at tang. Weight: 6lb. 8oz. CONDITION: Very good. 75% original blue finish with minor staining and spotting. Receiver retains 40% faded original case color. Buttstock and forearm are very good with scattered scratches, handling marks and hunting bumps, checkering lightly thinned and retain about 80% of an old professionally restored finish. Bores are bright and shiny. Although chambered for 2-3/4″ shells, these guns were typically designed for 2-1/2″ ammunition.
