EXCEPTIONAL VERY RARE HORNBEAM CHILD’S CHAIR.Early 18th century, New England. The carved, hollowed maple log designed with “C” shaped back to accommodate plank seat, now affixed with rosehead nails, a half-round cut hole as a handgrip. Two rectangular holes open at sides for accommodation of “tender” arm. The front proper left side of chair with natural knot-holes. SIZE: 28″ h x 17-1/2″ l x 16″ d. CONDITION: Untouched original surfaces with natural color and patina. Edges smooth and worn. Minor and stable age appropriate shrinkage cracks throughout. Proper left arm cracked with early rosehead nail re-attachment. Very good to excellent untouched condition.
