1) WALTHER 98/SPORTER. SN 5180. Cal. 30-06. 24-1/2″ sporter weight bbl. Ramp front sight with gold bead insert, Express rear sight with 1 standing and 2 folding leafs. Bbl marked with Walther banner and eagle/N proofs. Mauser 98 action with military style trigger and floorplate with cross bolt safety. Sporter style walnut stock has checkered panels, capped pistol grip, Monte Carlo cheekpiece and grooved hard rubber buttplate. Factory sling swivel studs. PROVENANCE: The Esteemed Collection Of Noted Expert And Author Warren Buxton. CONDITION: Very good as partially refinished. Bbl and rec retain most of a high luster blue finish with high edge and muzzle wear. Wood retains virtually all of a rubbed oil finish. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is good. C&R 2) WALTHER 98 TRIBUTE RIFLE. NSN. Cal. 8×57. 24″ 3-stage military type bbl with ramp front sight and military style insert. Express rear sight with 1 standing and 1 folding leaf. Mauser 98 action is unmarked as is bbl. Military style trigger and safety. Floorplate and trigger bow have simple scroll engraving. Sporter style stock has single cross bolt and checkered semi pistol grip, pancake cheekpiece, military style steel buttplate. Small silver memorial shield on right stock is inscribed “Zur Erinnerung/an den 1. Regts-Tag/des Inf. Regts. 78/am 20.-22. 6.1925”.
