Bronze sculpture entitled “Sapho” depicts young woman in classical attire playing lyre while standing on rock pedestal. Woman’s skin is finished in light brown patina, while clothing, hair and rocks are done in dark brown patina. Signed on side of rock “Villanis”, stamped on back of rock near foot “B4705″ along with foundry mark. SIZE: 28” t. PROVENANCE: From the Unreserved Estate of the late David Barnett. CONDITION: Very good to excellent, with some minor wear to patina. One bronze string to lyre missing. 50444-36 (2,000-3,000) – Lot 2244
