ALEXANDER HENRY 12 BORE HAMMER DOUBLE RIFLE.

SN 6413. Cal. 12 Bore, for 2-1/2″ brass cases. Circa 1880-1890. 28″ Damascus bbls with full length Alexander Henry 11 groove rifling, (0.770″ avg. bore dia.) with dolls head extension. Robust Jones underlever action is fitted with peninsula back action locks with front sliding safeties and round bodied serpentine hammers. Action and locks are engraved with small scroll. Newly made cast-off buttstock with recoil pad and right hand cheekpiece was reworked, recheckered and refinished by Ray Ordorica. Forend attaches to bbl with forward pivoting lever. PROVENANCE: From the collection of Ray Ordorica. CONDITION: Fair to good. Bbls re-browned with considerable loss to details of bbl rib matting and engraving. Action and locks have considerable loss of engraving due to many years of cleaning and rusting. Surfaces gray brown and pitted. Locks are crisp. Bores are good, lightly pitted throughout, with a couple of very deep large pits in right bbl. Action is surprisingly tight. Locks up well. The rifle comes with a custom 0.755″ bullet mould by Ned Christiansen (Michiguns) designed for paper-patched bullets. The mould is engraved with the Henry’s serial number and bullet weight (900 grains if pure lead). 51775-1 (4,000-8,000) – Lot 2240
