SUPERB QUALITY HAMMER DOUBLE SHOTGUN BY JOSEPH HEINIGE OF VIENNA.

NSN. Cal. 16 ga. 2-1/2″ Chamber. 30″ Bernard pattern bbls have makers name and address on rib with gold inlaid scroll at breech ends. Tip-down action with forward pivoting lever is fitted with peninsula back action locks with re-bounding serpentine hammers. Action is extensively and finely engraved with well cut acanthus and game scenes. Some scroll and outlines of vignettes are gold inlaid. The monogram “CW” surmounted by a sovereign’s crown is in relief at top of action. Finely figured and marbled walnut stock has steel buttplate, right hand cheekpiece, and horn grip extension. Grip is checkered, as is captive forend. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Bbls show light cleaning to gray with pattern still visible. Other metal parts darkened to medium gray. Orig wood finish shows minor marks and scratches. Bores are fine with some light pits. Action is tight. Mechanically good. 51162-2 MGM66 (1,250-2,250) – Lot 2233
