INLAID FEDERAL CHERRY AND BIRDS EYE MAPLE CHEST OF DRAWERS.

Circa 1800, New England. An appealing Federal bowfront chest with exotic wood inlays including birdseye maple, figured mahogany cross banding, and composed inlays of contrasting light and dark wood. A unified design with sweeping front apron profile and an attenuated stance make this more than a merely useful chest of drawers. SIZE: Case: 37″ h x 41″ w x 19-1/2″ d. CONDITION: Good, with older refinish, some repair to lower 3″ of front feet, brasses appear to be original, no locks ever set in this piece predicting a rural origin, minor restorations to inlays, one horizontal glue block missing on base. 51376-27 (2,000-3,000) – Lot 2225
