*HOLLAND & HOLLAND MAUSER BIG GAME RIFLE.

SN 96605. (Holland number 3548, ca 1970) Cal. .375 H&H. 24-1/2″ Tapered round bbl is fitted with sleeved-on matted rear sight base, sling eye, and front ramp with Holland type folding protector. It is sighted with one standing, one folding leaf express rear and silver bead front. Muzzle is threaded for a suppressor or muzzle brake (protection ring currently installed). Top of bbl is engraved “Holland & Holland 13, Bruton Street, London.” Rear portion of bbl is engraved “HOLLAND’S” “.375 MAGNUM”. London nitro proofs are on left rear. Commercial Oberndorf, standard length, Mauser action is stamped with Mauser SN, German and British proofs on left side of matted receiver ring. British style claw scope bases have been fitted, as well as a modern adjustable trigger with safety on right side of tang, which also locks bolt. Orig pear shaped bolt knob is intact. Handle has been bent for low scope use, and has H & H SN engraved on shank. Bolt shroud retains orig flag safety, gold inlaid “SAFE”. Lightweight alloy drop box bottom metal is marked “Made in England” in front of hinge for straddle floorplate, which is marked “4 Cartridges”. Floorplate is retained by button in trigger guard bow. Bow is also engraved with Holland SN. Finely streaked and lightly figured European walnut stock measures 13-1/4″ over Silver type pad, and features swept Monte Carlo shadow line right hand cheekpiece, color hardened steel grip cap with trap containing spare front sight, recoil bolt, and classic Holland style point pattern checkering with mullered borders at grip and forend. A sling eye and vacant gold oval are on toe line. Drop at heel: approx 2-3/4″, drop at rear of Monte Carlo: approx 2″, drop at comb: approx 1-3/4″. Weight without scope: 8 lbs 9 oz. LOP: 13-1/4″. Swarvoski Habicht 1.4 – 4 x 24 scope with duplex reticle is in English style tip-off rings. CONDITION: Excellent. Metal parts retain 90 – 95% orig finish, most loss on high edges. Stock retains nearly all of its orig rubbed oil finish, with numerous light scratches and marks, as would be expected from a few safaris. Bore is excellent. Action is smooth.
