LARGE DEEPLY CARVED RELIEF PLAQUE DEPICTING A PEASANT FARMER WITH DOG PURSUING A LARGE ANIMAL.

History provided in written form on an envelope indicates that the carving was procured by the head of Lloyd’s of London who built a house on 1 Cliff St. Marblehead, Mass and it was discovered when a living room was renovated and it had been built into the ceiling. In the 1960’s the coffee table case was made to present it in a more utilitarian way. It could be used as a wall plaque as easy as leaving it in this coffee table format. Probably 19th Century in the Black Forest style of Germany. SIZE: Carving: 17″ h x 55″. Overall: 17-1/4″ h x 19-1/2″ d x 57″ w.
