The return address on both is the Hotel Brunswick, New York. Both with “Col Tom Custer/Fort Lincoln/Dakota as the recipient, written in General Custer’s distinctive hand. A two time recipient of the Medal of Honor, Tom died along with the General at the Battle of Little Big Horn.
