SET OF FOUR MAJORELLE “OMBELLE” PATTERN SIDE CHAIRS.

Circa 1900, Louis Majorelle, France. Each curved crestrail terminating in ombelle floral sprays carved in deep relief raised on molded stiles centering a Y-shaped splat foliate carved throughout above the trapezoidal overupholstered seat, each covered in a burnt gold velvet. The serpentine seat rail molded and carved raised on frontal molded cabriole legs terminating in sabots. Note: Identical chair illustrated in Louis Majorelle Master of Art Nouveau Design by Alastair Duncan, 1991, Page 179. SIZE: 40″ h of back, 18″ h of seat. CONDITION: One chair with repairs to broken stiles above seat. Two chairs with reattachment of crestrail to stiles. 50429-90 (7,000-9,000) – Lot 2212
