REMINGTON DOUBLE DERINGER TYPE II MODEL NO. 3 NEW YORK ENGRAVED PISTOL WITH TWO PIECE PEARL GRIPS.

SN 325. Cal. 41RF. 3″ rnd bbls. Full nickel finish. New York engraved. 1-line Remington address on rib. SN stamped on grip frame under left grip. No. 342 is stamped on bottom of bbl assembly. This mismatch could possible have occurred when the Deringer was engraved and parts were switched between 2 guns with very close SN’s. Engraving is in the New York style with vine scroll on the top bbl, scallop decoration on the ribs, and a floral motif on the bottom bbl. Frame is engraved in a vine scroll motif with a punch dot background and scallop decoration on each recoil shield. Small scroll appears behind hammer. Grip straps are otherwise bare. PROVENANCE: Bruce Burtner Collection. CONDITION: Fine. Deringer retains 90%+ of the nickel finish overall with slight losses on the lower bbl and muzzle. All markings are sharp and clear. Engraving is sharp and unmolested. Bores are heavily pitted with traces of rifling. Hammer, trigger and bbl latch are a smooth blue gray patina with hints of blue remaining. Grips are fine with no chips and have a beautiful rainbow color. A very nice example of a New York engraved Remington Double Deringer in above average condition. 51641-16 TEP (2,500-3,000) – Lot 2202
