QASHGAI ORIENTAL RUG, SOUTHERN IRAN.

Second quarter 20th Century. Woven with multiple rows of polychrome diamonds with serrated edges each filled with stylized geometric tree branch forms with polychrome snowflakes and S-hooks throughout all on a midnight blue ground. The row of central diamonds in madder red, midnight blue, and blue/gray fields within a ivory main border of tarantula latch hook trelliswork within multiple polychrome guard borders. The end fringe on one end ties as tassles. SIZE: 5′ 10″ x 10′ 1″. PROVENANCE: Maralyn Young estate, Arundel/Falmouth Maine, being sold unreserved. CONDITION: The rug with strong vibrant colors and retaining good pile throughout, minimal and minor loss to end fringe, rug remains supple, very good overall. 51412-64 (800-1,200) – Lot 2200
