FINE & RARE GALLE ART NOUVEAU MARQUETRY ETAGERE.

Circa 1900, Emile Galle, France. Signed “Galle” on backboard lower left corner facing. This fine example with “Ombelle” floral decoration and marquetry, fitted with four molded display shelves flanked by two subsidiary shelves of cloud design. The solid back with shaped cresting of Ombelle decoration. The cabinet raised on frontal molded legs joined by foliate supports beneath the lower shelf. Note: An identical model is illustrated in Galle Furniture by Alastair Duncan and Georges de Bartha, published 2012, see page 309, plates 45 and 45a. SIZE: 62-1/2″ h x 36″ w overall x 13-1/2″ d. CONDITION: Structurally very good. French polished surface with minor and minimal spot coloration primarily on top shelf. Some very minor cosmetic restoration to back nearly invisible from front.
