REMINGTON-ELLIOT DERINGER NO. 2 PISTOL.SN 17179. Cal. .32 RF. 3-3/8″ bbls, blue and silver finish with 2-piece walnut grips. Left bbl rib is stamped with Remington address, right bbl rib is stamped with Elliot’s patent marks. SN is stamped on inside of frame and on bottom of bbl cluster. “B” is stamped on the frame above the left grip. Pistol is otherwise unmarked. PROVENANCE: Bruce Burtner Collection. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl cluster retains 80% bright blue finish, with some flaking on the upper two bbls. Front sight is very good. Rib markings are sharp. Bores are bright with strong rifling. Silverplated frame retains 60-70% of the deeply tarnished silver finish with the majority of the wear on the backstrap. Ring trigger shows a silver/gray patina overall. Trigger actuating rod shows a considerable amount of fire blue finish. Grips are fine with nearly all the orig finish and only slight high point wear at the bottom of each grip. A very fine example of a Remington Deringer made in a quantity of about 25,000 including .22 cal production, circa 1863-1988. 51641-21 TEP (1,500-2,000) – Lot 2199
