TWO WILLIAM AND MARY OAK JOINT STOOLS.

Late 18th century, England. The first an early 18th century with rectangular beveled edge top above the rectangular apron. Joined to four blocked baluster turned legs joined by rectangular boxed stretcher. The whole a pinned construction. The second example comprised of miscellaneous period timber with rectangular beveled edge top above the line carved apron raised on four baluster turned splayed legs joined by rectangular box stretcher. SIZE: First: 14″ h x 16-1/2″ l x 11-3/4″ w. Second: 23″ h x 18-1/2″ l x 11″ w. CONDITION: The first with old if not original surface. Top reset. Old insect damage in lower portion of legs resulting in minor loss of height. Stool shows evidence of having been reassembled. Otherwise good. The second with dark old finish. Structurally good. Bottoms of all legs showing evidence of insect damage. Top is bowed and has been re-glued along a split seam. Degree of originality as noted. 51437-24 (600-800) – Lot 2185
