CIVIL WAR DATED AUTOGRAPHED QUOTATION SIGNED BY EDWARD EVERETTE.Edward Everette (1794-1865) U.S. Secretary of State – 1852-53; Governor of Massachusetts – 1836-40; U.S. Senator – Massachusetts. The 3″ x 5″ note “Washington was the greatest of good men & the best of great men. Edward Everette, Boston 3 Sept 1864”. This was executed during the 3rd full year of the war and less than a year after he delivered the opening speech before Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.
