LARGE GROUP OF BUTTONS MOSTLY CIVIL WAR AND ANTEBELLUM MILITARY.This group consists of about 80 or 90 buttons, of which 8 appear to be Confederate or southern states, and 20+ are early 19th century American military buttons probably found at Fort Mitchell, Alabama. Also included in this lot are an excavated hammer from a Civil War Revolver, tongue portion of a belt buckle with an anchor and a pewter pistol flask with eagle embossed and a small patriotic political t-bar pin which states “Fremont and Freedom”. SIZE: Case 12″ x 8″. PROVENANCE: Greene Museum of Southern History. CONDITION: Buttons are mostly excavated with typical patination, and ground action associated, Fremont campaign pin is very good, with some original gilt. 9-28033-2 (600-800) – Lot 2176
