FABULOUS PAIR OF LARGE AMBROTYPES DEPICTING OUTDOOR SCENES WITH MEN, TENT & WAGON.

A single leather case holds two 1/2 plate ambrotypes of the same scene at slightly different times. The image shows a flat foreground with 14 men, a horse, covered wagon, tent, & low background hills with trees. Five men are sitting, seven men standing and two men are laying on their sides. One man standing holds a rifle, five have canes, one is smoking a long pipe, one man holds the reins of the horse. They all wear broad brim hats with what appears to be a ribbon band, long collared similar shirts with front buttons, one man sitting writing on what appears to be a lap desk. On the ground is a blanket roll, doctors bag, metal coffee pot, lantern, a box with writing and one man in the center is holding a long white roll that could be a rolled map. The tent is in the background and the 4-wheel wagon is covered on three sides. The difference between the two images is only slight where small items have been moved and set differently.
