PAIR OF FRENCH AUTOMATA.The first being of French manufacture of a young lady drawing a cart. Clockwork contained within her body and when wound her legs would plod forward pulling the cart behind. This piece is all original excepting her wig which is of newer vintage. The bisque head which is commonly referred to as Jumeau is marked “1907”. Bisque head has fine bisque, blue paperweight eyes, an open mouth and is slightly loose on her body. The second is a clean all original wheeled platform toy that when pulled along the floor the motion being the young lady’s head turning and the cart moving back & forth. The wooden base has an elaborate paper patterned inset and the wagon itself is painted and contains some type of floral or moss within. Obviously this lady was on her way to market to sell. The bisque head is marked only with a “5-0″ and appears to be free of damage, but has a tiny white speck on her left cheek. Her clothing is completely original, however this is some fading as well as soiling and distress to her right leg. SIZE: 1) 14″ l x 11-1/2″ t. 2) 11″ l x 12” t. CONDITION: First doll has some wear, paint loss to her hands.
