FEDERAL INLAID MAHOGANY BOWFRONT CHEST OF DRAWERS.

First quarter 19th century, probably Massachusetts. The rectangular top with applied string inlaid edges above the conforming case, fitted with four string inlaid graduated drawers above the swelled apron, raised on modified French feet. The chest is fitted with later patriotic eagle molded brass oval hardware and with period stamped oval escutcheons. SIZE: 33″ h x 41″ w x 22-1/2″ d. CONDITION: Chest retains early, if not original surfaces. Some repairs to feet using original timber. Backboard original. Small losses to cross-banding on top of right rear corner and loss of applied edge to proper left side of chest. 51420-1 (1,500-2,500) – Lot 2164
