CLASSICAL MAHOGANY BANQUET TABLE.

Circa 1800, American or Scottish. A Classical banquet table of inspired design, made from highest-grade Santa Domingo mahogany, in appealing old maintained surface. The architectural unity, refined carving, and historic surface are rare and appealing features. The center section can also be used as a stand-alone dining table with drop leaves, and the two demilune-ends can serve as consoles. The top is composed of well-figured single 27″ wide boards. The table comfortably seats fourteen (provision could be made for expansion with the addition of leaves and clips). The table’s design allows for exceptional seating with no interference from the legs or apron. Santa Domingo mahogany; pine secondary wood. Retaining the original brass hardware, including brass foot mounts, castors and “D” clips. SIZE: 29″ h x 55″ w x 134″ l. PROVENANCE: Found in Savannah, Georgia. CONDITION: Very good condition.
