GOOD GERMAN FLORAL DECORATED PINE COFFER.Second quarter 19th century, Germany. The rectangular hinged lid with applied frontal molded edge decorated with a central polychrome fruit and floral spray flanked by striped borders further flanked by foliate and berry sprigs opening to a storage well. The small coffer with three recessed frontal panels each with floral bouquet within striped borders, all on a black ground. The lower case inscribed in the frieze, in script “Holen und Helfen Huben und Melken”, on a molded base. SIZE: 8″ t x 19-1/2″ w x 10″ d. CONDITION: All painted surfaces original and now age darkened. Lid slightly over-cleaned resulting in some paint loss, abrasion and paint loss to edges of coffer, front molding on lid with old repair to split proper left front corner now in need of stabilizing, otherwise good. 51400-12 (1,400-1,600) – Lot 2144
