RARE PAIR OF TALL PAINTED BALLROOM CHANDELIERS.Late 18th early 19th century, New England. Each rolled sheet iron example of graphic tall double tier seven-arm chandelier headed by double conical finial retaining original hanging ring. The upper tier consists of three scrolled down-swept candle arms terminating in dished drip pans with tab mounted step rimmed candlecups above the lower tier of four arms of conforming design. Each on a conical flat base suitable for table mounting. Each with early painted surfaces now dry green over original gilt. SIZE: 48″ t x 28-1/2″ dia. CONDITION: Paint with age commensurate wear. A few drip pans with minor denting and with underside reinforcements. Two drip pans on one chandelier of non-conforming design although with consistent paint history indicating that they are likely early replacements. Good overall. 51331-32 (3,000-6,000) – Lot 2142
