SN 380065. Cal. 28 GA 26-3/4″ Shoe lump bbls are fitted with flat, matted, game rib, and are marked with importer, maker, and “MADE IN GERMANY” on top of left bbl, with steel information on right. Bbl flats are stamped with German nitro proofs for 2-3/4″ chambers. Coin finished, scallop-backed, boxlock action features automatic safety, Greener crossbolt third fastener, bushed strikers, reinforcing bolsters, and dbl triggers. Action is engraved with sprays of deeply cut scroll surrounding relief engraved game scenes; a group of grouse feeding on left side, and three pheasant, one standing, two flying on right. Engraving is signed “WH” at rear of left scene. Top lever and scroll engraved trigger guard are blued. Lightly fiddle figured, dense, European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-5/8″ over Merkel marked composition buttplate. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Long, fat, splinter ejector forend has Deeley type release. Bore diameter: left -.552, right -.552. Bore restrictions: left -.024 (full), right -.012 (mod). Drop at heel: 2-5/8″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 6 lbs 2 oz. LOP: 14-5/8″. Green and white Merkel box contains packing materials and instruction booklet. CONDITION: Excellent, near new, with evidence of light field use, appears essentially unfired, with only light handling marks on wood and metal, however bottom of action has slightly browned and blue on front portion of trigger guard bow is considerably silvered.
