CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY LOWBOY.

Massachusetts, circa 1760-1780. A superior form with ball and talon feet, cabriole legs, arcaded skirt with central blocking flanked by drop pendants. A well organized drawer design with one drawer over three smaller ones. The center drawer blocked and carved, the molded top has a pleasing overhang and invected front corners. The case cockbeaded around drawer surrounds. SIZE: Case: 30-1/2″ h x 30″ w x 18″ d. PROVENANCE: From a Maine/Texas estate being sold unreserved. CONDITION: Very good, plinths and drop pendants replaced, front returns probably replaced, age checks to right front leg and foot. Brasses period but replaced, top original and attached with pocket screws and “L” brackets. Older refinish. 51398-2 (3,000-5,000) – Lot 2129
