SCARCE 2ND MODEL WINCHESTER MODEL 1890 PUMP ACTION RIFLE.

SN 45156. Cal. 22 Short. Standard grade rifle with 24-3/8″ oct bbl, 3/4 magazine, sporting front sight & sheet metal V-notch rear sight. Receiver, top & bottom tangs and buttplate along with the hammer & trigger are color case hardened. Mounted with uncheckered straight grain American walnut which includes a small round ribbed forearm & straight stock with crescent buttplate. This model was very high production but only a few were color case hardened. They were very popular as small game guns and for use in shooting galleries. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Bbl retains 85-90% orig blue turning plum with scattered chemical spots and sharp edge wear. Magazine tube retains about 95% orig blue. Receiver retains 88-90% brilliant case colors with the losses primarily from rust spots on the top right rear side. Top tang retains faded case colors around the hammer slot. Trigger plate retains brilliant case colors with the bottom tang a gray/brown patina. Buttplate is a gray/brown patina. Wood is sound with light nicks & scratches and retains most of its orig finish. Mechanics are crisp, strong bright bore with scattered pitting. 51433-3 JRL (4,000-6,000) – Lot 2125
