RARE AND IMPORTANT SET OF 25 A.E. CROWELL MINIATURE SHORE BIRDS, WITH ORIGINAL RECEIPT.

Early to mid 20th century. Massachusetts. Featuring 25 carved and extremely well painted miniature shore bird figures mounted on carved wooden bases. Each bird individually marked with a number in pencil and with the impressed carvers mark “A.E.Crowell – Maker – East Harwich, Mass.”. Accompanying this lot will be an original receipt with inventory of the 25 birds from A.E. Crowell. A. Elmer Crowell (1862 – 1952) master decoy carver from East Harwich, Mass., specializing in shore birds, waterfowl, and miniatures. His decoy’s are considered among the most desirable made because of his artistic approach. SIZE: Approx., 3″ to 5″ l., each. PROVENANCE: Purchased directly from A.E.
