FEDERAL MAHOGANY TALL CASE CLOCK WITH BRASS WORKS.Late 18th early 19th century. New England or New Jersey. The case in mahogany with pine secondary, bonnet with broken arch pediment, having floral carved rosettes and carved finial, the frieze and door surround with satin wood and ebony string inlay and full turned tapering mahogany columns. The case with cove moldings and quarter columns having string inlaid door with inlaid oval panel, the base string inlaid with round inlaid panel and step base molding. The movement in brass with time strike and moon mechanism, the face of painted iron fitted with moon dial, sweep second hand and calendar window. The painted face having black letters and gold detail, the moon window fitted with cottage scene and scene of sailing ship, having two very well detailed map images of North and South America and Europe, Asia, and Africa. SIZE: 88″ t. CONDITION: Very good overall, minor paint loss to clock face, base shows evidence of having corner bracket feet at one time. 9-96572 (3,000-5,000) – Lot 2108
