FEDERAL INLAID MAHOGANY CYLINDER SECRETARY.

Circa 1810, New England. The case in 2 parts, the bookcase upper section surmounted by brass urn formed finials and shaped frieze above a pair of glass doors with arched tops above geometric concentric circle mullions, fitted to the lower case of 3 aligned short drawers above a cylinder barrel roll opening to an interior fitted with a line of valanced pigeon holes above 8 small drawers all with birch fronts above a baise lined writing surface, the barrel with oval fan inlaid patera within a rectangular inlaid striped border with contrasting fan spandrels. The case additionally fitted with 3 long drawers raised on tapering cylindrical ring-turned legs. SIZE: 94″ h. x 42″ w. x 23″ d. CONDITION: Very good, with well polished surfaces, old shrinkage crack repairs to side of case, center finial at crest absent, hardware replaced, otherwise good. 9-96519 (3,500-5,500) – Lot 2106
