*WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 TAKEDOWN RIFLE IN 405 WCF CALIBER.

SN 406632. Cal. .405 WCF. 24″ rnd bbl, takedown, standard sporting sights, matted receiver, blue finish, straight grained American walnut stocks, crescent buttplate, Schnabel forend with ebony insert. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl retains 30-40% blue with some marring and scratching overall. Sights are good. Bbl marks are sharp. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Receiver retains 20-30% orig blue with wear at the carry point and some staining on the right side. Hammer and lever are a gray/brown patina with some staining. Receiver mark is sharp. Tang marks are sharp. Stocks are very good, full sized, with a considerable amount of the varnish remaining and show handling marks overall. Buttplate is a silver/gray patina. Ebony insert is very good. A fine example of what Teddy Roosevelt referred to as his “medicine gun for lions”. 51138-39 TEP (3,000-5,000) C&R – Lot 2102
