VERY FINE DIMINUTIVE QUEEN ANNE LOWBOY.Circa 1760, Connecticut River Valley. An early example in cherrywood, with fluid lines, and of compact size. The overhanging molded top with notched corners, above a pleasing complement of drawers, arranged as two short drawers over three box drawers; the center lower drawer blocked-and-carved with a refined shell with crescent carved perimeter. The apron blocked below the shell drawer with a cupid’s bow lower edge at center, flanked by graceful cyma lobes. The apron on the case sides repeating the fluid cupid’s bow, adding interest and corresponding to the corner profile of the notched top. The apron flowing in to sweeping cabriole legs with creased knees and outswept pad feet with under pads. The split top drawer and small brass borings are consistent with an early date. Cherrywood with pine secondary. Brasses replaced. SIZE: 31″ h x 29″ w x 17″ d. CONDITION: Very good, with great color and old refinish. Some pocket screws added in addition to original wooden pins securing top, all knee returns and drawer lips appear original. 51319-10 (6,000-10,000) – Lot 2100
