WILLARD’S MAHOGANY PATENT BANJO CLOCK.Early 19th century, Massachusetts. Of typical form with brass eagle finial above the iron enameled dial with Arabic numeral chapter ring mounted with barbed hands, the dial mounted with three fasteners. The throat with brass sidearms and original throat glass inscribed “Willards Patent” in gilt lettering, joined to the box base, the door with string inlaid frame, the eglomise panel with chariot and rider. The unmarked brass movement filaster bolted with T-bridge and dead beat escapement. Offered with finial, winder, pendulum, and weight. PROVENANCE: The clock a gift from Arthur Cutts Willard to the grandmother of the present owner. CONDITION: Case is in good condition, finial, convex glass, eglomise panels and dial original.
