WELL APPOINTED CHINESE CHIPPENDALE CARVED GILT WOOD AND GESSO MIRROR.

Late 18th early 19th century, England. The oval beveled mirror plate within a molded surround edged in flattened pierced leaf tips framed by C-scrolled molded elements, many with secondary mirror plates, flanked by stylistic trees, each mounted with a fanciful Phoenix. The shoulders carved with tropical plants centering a secondary mirror plate mounted within C-scrolls and foliate plaque. The crest fashioned in the form of a pagoda with peaked roof and four faceted supports, centering a conifer. The roof with suspended bells. SIZE: Approximately 70″ t x 41″ w. CONDITION: Frame retains original mirror glass, carved elements all original, with old gilded surface. Minor professional restoration throughout with some re-gilding.
