LOVELY AND SELDOM SEEN STEIFF RIDING OX WITH IDs.Circa 1920s, Germany. A standing, unjointed ox on a metal riding carriage with a wooden steering handle. Ox is made from short tan and coppery-orange mohair with longer tan mohair on its tail tip. Face and head is detailed with black button eyes and leather horns. He also has leather hooves. Nonworking pull voice. The ox rides upon four red metal wheels. With Steiff long trailing “f” style button, traces of paper ear tag, and original red and white pull cord with red wooden knob detailed with a Steiff medallion. This model was produced in 9 sizes ranging from 14 to 80 cm from 1909 through 1943. Despite its longevity in the line, these riding ox are seldom seen on the secondary market. This one has particularly vibrant coloring and a most appealing presentation. SIZE: 13” h (33 cm) x 21” w (53 cm). CONDITION: Good. Wear consistent with age and nature of item. Light mohair wear and losses, especially on the back riding area.
