PRECIOUS AND EARLY APRICOT STEIFF TEDDY BEAR WITH IDS.This circa 1907 Steiff Teddy bear is made from the most delightfully colored apricot mohair which only adds to his glowing personality. The bear has classic early Steiff proportions, including long arms with spoon shaped paws, narrow cardboard lined feet, and a prominent back hump. His face is detailed with black shoebutton eyes, a shaved muzzle, and a black hand-embroidered nose and mouth. He has four claws on each paw but is now missing one on each foot. This bear has a particularly heartwarming presentation. He retains his tiny trailing “F” Steiff button and traces of his white ear tag as his Steiff IDs. SIZE: 19″ h standing; 13″ h sitting. PROVENANCE: From a fine collection. CONDITION: As noted. General mohair thinning and loss, especially on limbs and forehead. Some excelsior separation in limbs. Very small open seam on shoulder. Both hand paws with numerous holes; feet paws with very minor holes and splitting at cardboard edges. Otherwise fair to good. 47325-5 (1,000-2,000) – Lot 2084 Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2015 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
