POPE BARRELED WINCHESTER HI-WALL DELUXE SCHUTZEN RIFLE. Cal. 32-40. Beautiful Pope rifle with 31-1/2″ #3 weight oct. bbl marked on top flat with Pope’s standard marking and a left hand twist bore. Wood is nicely grained walnut with a walnut base palm rest in the forearm. Buttstock is heavy Schutzen pattern, probably a replacement, with S style grip cap and aluminum Schutzen buttplate and an attached small cheek piece. Receiver is case colored with Schutzen lever and dbl. set triggers. Bbl is fitted with globe front sight and target scope bases. Tang has a thin base, short range tang sight. The muzzle is fitted with a standard Pope 4-prong false muzzle and Pope style brass and steel bullet starter. SN 81821. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl retains 75-80% thin blue-gray. There are two small holes vertically through the side flats at the front sight dovetail. There are two corresponding holes in the receiver ring on the top, possibly an old scope mount. Wood is sound and retains most of its fine finish. Receiver and lever retain 60-70% fading case colors, strong in sheltered areas. Brilliant shiny bore. 4-46631 JR21 (8,000-15,000)
