MASSACHUSETTS FEDERAL TRANSITIONAL INLAID MAHOGANY CARD TABLE.

Circa 1810, Salem or North Shore. The hinged top with elliptic front, ovolo corners, and half serpentine sides string inlaid on the edges above the conforming frieze with oval and rectangular inlaid panels of figural birch and satinwood within mahogany borders raised on ring-turned cylindrical tapering reeded legs continuing to swelled feet headed by engaged colonettes. SIZE: 29-1/2″ h x 36-3/4″ w x 17-1/4″ d. PROVENANCE: Sotheby’s, New York October 13, 2000 Lot 0239. From a fine private Long Island, NY collection. CONDITION: Professionally polished and restored to near original condition. Some slight old damage to areas around hinges at top have been nicely restored. Table retains rich color and patina.
