TIFFANY ELLIS & YOUNG TEA SET.Tiffany Ellis & Young tea service consists of a teapot, creamer and covered sugar. Each piece has repousse flowers surrounding the bulbous body as well as covering the vine shaped handles. There is also an applied vine and flowers encircling the spout of the teapot. The teapot handle is complete with bone insulators. Each lid is done in a stylized leaf design with swirling finial. Each piece has central cartouche which have not been engraved. Marked on the underside “Tiffany Young & Ellis G&W”. Total weight of the set approx. 75.7 troy oz. SIZE: Teapot 10″ t. PROVENANCE: Accompanying this lot is an affidavit from the current owner stating that this tea set was descended from Rear Admiral Charles Boarman, his great-great-great grandfather. Rear Admiral Boarman was a decorated US Naval Officer serving from 1811-1876, most notably on the USS Brandywine during the Mexican-American War. At the time of his death he was the longest serving naval officer on the Navy Register with 68 years of service. He died September 13, 1879.
