RARE 38-STAR FLAG WITH UNIQUE CANTON, COMMEMORATING COLORADO, 1877.

Printed with most unusual canton, with 3-7/8″ central star surrounded by a circle of thirteen stars which is surrounded by a square of twenty-four stars. Few of this pattern are known. This flag has seen use with fair aesthetics, though there is soiling, staining and fading of red, you won’t easily ever find another one. SIZE: Flag: 24-1/2″ x 16″. Frame: 30″ x 24″. PROVENANCE: The Timothy Gallagher Collection. CONDITION: Sound and solid with staining, soiling and trim reduction of bottom red stripe at left lower quadrant. Reductions where three nails originally held flag at hoist. Red as noted has faded and has bled as can be seen in photos, but the rare canton is still very good. 51371-14 (2,000-3,000) – Lot 2076
