ANTIQUE WINCHESTER MODEL 1894 RIFLE.

SN 129598. Cal. .32-40. 26″ rnd bbl, full mag, blue finish, straight grained American walnut stocks with crescent buttplate. Bbl shows 2-line Winchester address and cal mark at the breech end. Sporting front sight, semi-Buckhorn rear sight. Upper tang shows Winchester patent mark. SN stamped on bottom of receiver at front. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Bbl and mag tube show 80% blue finish that has somewhat dulled and is blending to a plum/brown patina toward the muzzle. Bbl marks are sharp. Front sight is very good. Rear sight is slightly bent to the rear. Bore is frosty with strong rifling. Receive retains 80% bright blue finish with most of the wear at the carry point. Bolt shows 90% blue, extractor shows traces of fire blue. Loading gate also shows traces of fire blue. Hammer and lever retain a generous amount of case color that is vivid in protected areas. Stocks are very good, full sized, and show only minuscule handling marks overall with most of the varnish finish intact. Buttplate is a sliver/gray patina with hints of case color and some roughness on the tang. Forend cap shows 50% blue blending to a smooth plum/brown patina. A very nice antique Winchester model 1894 in far above average condition. 51433-6 TEP (3,500-5,000) – Lot 2076
