UNUSUAL EARLY AMERICAN CLOCKWORK TRICYCLE.

Not the typical clockwork tricycle that Althof Bergmann produced. This is a more stylized tricycle with a flat rectangular cover over the clockwork motor on the rear wheels. The gentleman itself has stamped brass hands & feet and the head itself is somewhat unusual being referred to as the pressed linen head (Hawkins patent). The toy is in all original as found condition and just a light cleaning to the painted surfaces would bring up a fabulous lustre to the paint. Even the tin clockwork motor cover has a fanciful stenciling which is completely different than the A.B. tricycle. Truly a seldom found tricycle with great appeal. Mechanism is wound by “backwinding” and is functional and operational. SIZE: Overall 10″ l. CONDITION: Great original condition, some deterioration to original cloth outfit of young man. 49013-1 (2,200-2,700) – Lot 2049
