SN 121117A. Cal. 38 WCF (38-40). Rare carbine with 20″ bbl, full magazine, barleycorn front sight, 1873 marked carbine ladder rear sight and Lyman tang sight with large disc. Mounted with 2 X deluxe walnut with “H” style checkered forearm & black fleur-de-lis insert serpentine grip stock that has smooth steel shotgun buttplate. Left side of lower tang, top tang channel of buttstock and inside toe of buttplate have matching assembly numbers. Both top & bottom tangs have been repaired. This carbine was produced about 1883 and is somewhat a great rarity. Very few Model 1873 carbines were produced in deluxe configuration. CONDITION: Good, all matching. Bbl, which is an old replacement with double proof marks, retains about 40-50% orig blue with fingerprints of pitting over the forearm area. Magazine tube, also a replacement retains about 95% blue. Receiver, side plates and buttplate are mostly dark metal patina with moderate to heavy pitting on left side of receiver & side plate. Hammer shows strong case colors. Stock has repairs in the wrist and is missing a sliver, the wood shows an old restored finish. Mechanics are fine, strong bright bore with light to moderate pitting. 51379-24 JRL (1,500-2,000) – Lot 2015
