21-1/2″ IXL EXPRESS WAGON.A nice all original example of an early Ives American tin toy from the latter part of the 19th century. The bed of the wagon is a dark blue with gold stenciling, and a brown stud with gold & red highlighting. The driver of the vehicle is not fastened to the seat in the normal manner, but rather by a button type affair with protruding prongs that are bent over on the underside of the tin bench seat. Overall the toy is in good to very good condition with typical/normal paint wear. SIZE: 21-1/2″ l. PROVENANCE: From the Laurence Hapgood Estate. CONDITION: As stated above, perhaps the only fault one could find with this toy is a thin wire between the two inner legs (acting as a wheel/riser) is missing. An easy and no big deal fix! 49003-18 (3,000-5,000) – Lot 2007 Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2015 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
