BANISTER BACKED ARM CHAIR WITH SCALLOPED CREST.Circa mid 18th century, Connecticut, probably Stratford or Guilford area. Retaining original finish under later varnish, having elaborate scrolling back, elaborate crown crest rail. Well turned 1/2 banisters and a cupid’s bow lower rail. Upwardly canted carved scrolling arms, rear posts with tall urn finials, and elongated vase turnings. Similarly turned front legs with turnip feet, bold front stretchers are ring turned with elongated turns, having an old rush seat. SIZE: 42-1/2″ x 22-1/2″ w.
