IVES HORSE DRAWN DRAY.

A fine early iron toy manufactured by Ives Blakeslee during the 1890s-1910 time period. When the toy is pulled along the ground, an eccentric axle with a wire give the illusion of the horse galloping down the road. The horse itself is a well executed, finely detailed example with a japanned finish and gilt trim. The wagon is enameled in black with gilt trim and the wheels & yoke being finished in the typical orange/red enamel. Toy is basically complete and intact with the original driver and still retains one of the two “bed stakes” that prevent the barrels from rolling off the inclined dray. SIZE: 14-1/2″ l. PROVENANCE: From the Laurence Hapgood Estate. CONDITION: Overall condition is good to very good with heavier paint wear to the original driver. 49003-16 (500-700) – Lot 2002
